About the Gili

I grew up in Luodong, Yilan, surrounded by the wide-open landscapes of the Lanyang Plain. Blessed with fresh mountain air, clear rivers and fertile farmland, my childhood was spent running through rice fields and enjoying the simple pleasures of country life. The warmth of the local community and the genuine kindness of the people around me gave me a deep appreciation for my hometown and the values it represents.

As I grew older, I left Yilan to study, work and travel throughout different parts of Taiwan. Every new place I visited revealed another side of this remarkable island. From bustling street food markets and regional specialities to independent brands and skilled artisans quietly dedicated to their craft, I came to realise that Taiwan’s greatest strength lies in its diversity, creativity and unwavering commitment to quality.

When I later moved to the United Kingdom, I embraced the opportunity to build a new life. Yet the further I was from home, the more I found myself missing the familiar tastes of Taiwan. Those flavours were never just about food—they were memories, comfort and a connection to the place where I grew up.

That feeling inspired me to do something meaningful for the Taiwanese community in the UK.

It began with LingerMart, an online store created to help people find the products they missed from home. Later, we opened a physical shop with the same purpose: to create a welcoming place where people could reconnect with Taiwan. We wanted it to be more than simply somewhere to shop—we wanted it to feel like an extension of home.

That vision eventually led my partners and me to establish Made in Taiwan.

Made in Taiwan is more than a brand; it is a commitment to sharing the very best of Taiwan with the world.

Food is where our journey begins, but our ambition goes much further. Through carefully selected products, we hope not only to serve Taiwanese communities overseas but also to introduce people who have never experienced Taiwan before to its unique culture, traditions and way of life.

Every product tells a story. Every flavour carries a memory. Every experience offers a glimpse into the warmth, care and hospitality that define Taiwan.

To us, Made in Taiwan is far more than a country-of-origin label. It represents quality, trust and authenticity. It reflects the dedication of our farmers, makers, artisans and entrepreneurs, and the belief that truly exceptional products can transcend language, culture and borders.

Together with our partners, we hope to bring the very best of Taiwan to more people across the United Kingdom—helping them discover, appreciate and fall in love with this beautiful island that we proudly call home.

About Gaston

I grew up in Nantun District, Taichung, where my childhood was shaped by both city life and the natural world. Some of my happiest memories are of exploring fields, streams and woodland, searching for insects and observing wildlife. Those experiences sparked a lifelong curiosity about nature, while drawing taught me to appreciate beauty, craftsmanship and the small details that often go unnoticed.

Taiwan’s rich natural environment and vibrant cultural heritage have had a profound influence on who I am. From the changing colours of the seasons and the diversity of its landscapes, to the dedication of skilled artisans and a food culture that celebrates local ingredients and regional traditions, I developed a deep appreciation for quality, aesthetics and authenticity.

After spending many years living overseas, I came to realise just how unique Taiwan truly is. Many Taiwanese brands and products are recognised not only for their exceptional quality and thoughtful design, but also for the stories they carry—stories of the land, the people and the culture that shaped them.

That realisation inspired me and my partners to establish Made in Taiwan. Our vision is to introduce carefully selected Taiwanese brands and products to the United Kingdom, connecting British customers with the creativity, craftsmanship and values that define Taiwan.

I believe every product is more than something we buy or use. It reflects the people who created it, the place it comes from and the culture it represents.

Through Made in Taiwan, I hope to build a bridge between Taiwan and the United Kingdom—sharing the finest of Taiwan and helping more people discover the quality, heritage and spirit behind every product.

About the Simon

I was born in Zhubei, Hsinchu County, into a Hakka family, and grew up in one of Taiwan’s fastest-growing cities. My roots also stretch to Hualien and Kaohsiung, giving me a family heritage that reflects the diversity of Taiwan itself.

My childhood was shaped by many different experiences. My family once worked in agriculture, while other relatives made their living from the sea. Looking back, I realise that my own “Made in Taiwan” story is much like Taiwan itself—rich, diverse and deeply connected to the land.

Taiwan has long been known as Formosa, meaning “the beautiful island”. No matter how far life has taken me, I have always been proud to call Taiwan home.

It is an island blessed with fertile soil, a favourable climate and extraordinary biodiversity. Our farmers cultivate the land with patience and respect, producing fruit and food renowned for their quality. Our diverse cultures have come together over generations to create one of Asia’s richest culinary traditions. Our artisans, growers and makers approach their work with care, precision and integrity, treating every product as though it were made for their own family.

To me, that is the true spirit of Taiwan.

As the world moves ever faster, however, I sometimes wonder what Made in Taiwan means today.

Has it become simply a label associated with good value? Do people compare our agricultural products only by price? When someone says Taiwanese fruit costs more than fruit from elsewhere, are they seeing only the price tag and not the story behind it?

Whenever I think about these questions, I remember something my family would say while we worked together in the fields as a child:

“We grow food that makes people smile.”

Those words have stayed with me throughout my life.

To me, Made in Taiwan is not defined by price. It is defined by quality, craftsmanship, integrity and the people behind every product. It represents the stories of our land, our culture and our way of life.

That belief inspired the creation of this brand.

Our mission is to share the very best of Taiwan with the world—not simply by exporting products, but by telling the stories behind them. We want people to understand the care, heritage and dedication that give every Taiwanese product its true value.

We hope to help Taiwanese people rediscover the richness of their own home, while introducing people across the United Kingdom to a side of Taiwan that goes far beyond what they may already know.

Because behind every product marked Made in Taiwan is something far more valuable than a place of origin.

It is a story, a tradition and a heartfelt expression of the care that Taiwan wishes to share with the world.

About the Aiken

I was born in New Taipei City and grew up surrounded by the pace and energy of urban life. Yet my strongest memories of Taiwan come not from the city, but from the time I spent at my grandmother’s home in Taoyuan.

My grandmother lived in a traditional Hakka farming village, and every summer holiday I would spend a few days there. I remember endless rice fields, peaceful countryside and the warmth of a close-knit community. It was a place where life felt simple, honest and deeply connected to the land. Even today, those childhood memories remain some of the most treasured moments of my life.

Looking back, those experiences shaped the way I think about quality and value.

To me, Taiwan’s finest products are much like the people I met in that village. They may not rely on extravagant packaging or bold marketing, but they are made with sincerity, care and an unwavering commitment to doing things properly.

In a world that moves ever faster and often judges products by price alone, I have come to value something different—the dedication, craftsmanship and integrity behind the people who create them.

Living overseas has only strengthened that belief.

It inspired me and my partners to create Made in Taiwan, with the hope of sharing this uniquely Taiwanese spirit with more people. Our goal is to serve as a bridge between Taiwan and the United Kingdom, introducing thoughtfully selected brands that reflect Taiwan’s quality, creativity and warmth.

We hope our platform offers Taiwanese communities in the UK a familiar sense of home, while also inviting British customers to discover the authenticity, reliability and care behind every product proudly marked Made in Taiwan.

Because for us, Made in Taiwan is more than a place of origin.

It is a promise of honesty, craftsmanship and products made with genuine care.
